Thinking back on 2018 comes with a feeling of appreciation and gratitude, in a professional sense our team enjoyed helping 77 families, friends and long term clients make a move. We also saw a transition in the market place of a sellers’ market to a more balanced state giving some buyers a better opportunity to purchase the home of their choice.
On a personal level, Scott’s family also met their 2nd girl, Brynn born in February,2018, their oldest daughter Briar is also enjoying her time at Montessori a couple days a week. A balanced work family schedule as a realtor can sometimes be a challenge, although Scott has the support of Jaime who enjoys every minute of being a mom. The family did a bit of travelling this summer with road-trips in their motorhome to both Yosemite National park and the Grand Canyon (with many stops at playgrounds on the way).
In October Scott had another opportunity to travel to Europe with a group of RE/MAX realtors from Western Canada. An annual event with a group of likeminded Realtors/Hockey players where they played in Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. It may sound odd to some, but these peers continue to be great friends who Scott can call whenever he needs great business advice.
Scott also was presented a plaque from REMAX of Nanaimo, celebrating this big milestone of working with RE/MAX of Nanaimo for 15 years! He also received The Lifetime Achievement Award from RE/MAX.

2018 was a wonderful year with plenty of real estate activity and several personal adventures. The real estate market continued to be fast-paced throughout most of the year with a few changes to the industry in June (e.g. Disclosure of Representation in Trading Services and banning of Dual Agency). Although listing inventory built up a bit over the year, there continues to be a shortage of well-priced property.
On a personal level, Ken was able to fit in two international trips (one to Ghana for Rotary work and one to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal). Ken has been working in Ghana with various partners (e.g. Rotary Clubs, Universities, Schools, NGO’s) for over 10 years.
He has been helping with various Rotary projects (e.g. drilling wells, providing schools supplies, building latrines, supplying hospital equipment) and educational programs (e.g. environmental education, vocational training in the prison).
In Nepal Ken was part of the first fundraising expedition to Mount Everest Base Camp in support of rebuilding schools after the devastating earthquake in 2015. The Daybreak Rotary club is planning an annual fundraising expedition to support various projects.

After a career of 15 years in Banking, Myriam has transferred her skills set to the Real Estate field. She has learned by experience that really listening to her clients and following through creates a memorable experience and goes beyond the clients’ expectations, allowing her the creation of long-term relationships that are far more valuable than any single transaction.
Originally from Colombia, Myriam came to Canada in 2008, and has lived in London, ON, Calgary and Nanaimo. Having had the benefit of experiencing life in different places, She knows first hand what it’s like to relocate to a new place, and to need guidance and help to find the right home and neighborhood.
Fluent in Spanish, Myriam has added to our team the ability to serve our clients in a second language and to extend our services to the increasing Latino community in Nanaimo.
