Living in North Nanaimo

The North Nanaimo area is one of the newest neighborhoods in the city, where most of the developments are no older than 30 years old. It is well-known for its restaurants, schools, and beautiful nature parks such as Linley Valley Park, Oliver Woods Park, and Brookwood Park. This area boasts amazing ocean views, most notably being the sunsets over the Winchelsea Islands.

The area is one of the areas with the quietest streets and low crime rate – compared to some other neighbourhoods in town. If you’re looking for a wonderful family-oriented environment, North Nanaimo has some great real estate and is perfect for setting down roots.

Home Styles

The North Nanaimo neighbourhood has a great mix of family homes, luxury real estate, condos, retirement communities and commercial real estate and areas.  The homes in this area are predominantly in upscale neighbourhoods. It is full of new developments due to the rising popularity of the area and the need for new housing that comes with it.

The Lindley Valley neighbourhood is one of the newest and most desirable to accommodate vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, nestled amongst the Linley Valley and Cottle Lake Park. Walking, biking and hiking trials are visited by locals from all over the city.

Brennan Lake Beach park and boat launch offers visitors access to some of Nanaimo’s wonderful warm water swimming and recreational boating right in the middle of the city. There are large acres of ALR land that still come up on the West side of the lake, as well as a strata subdivision in the West. The remainder of the neighbourhood home wraps all the way around to the public beach. Many of these homes have large yards and their own private docks and rarely come up for sale.

Location

This area is closest to Nanaimo’s large stores such as Costco, Walmart, and Home Depot. On the Boardwalk at Rutherford Ridge near Lindley Valley, there are family-run businesses such as Island-ish. There is a little bit of everything here for everyone; restaurants, shopping, and yoga!
