5 Signs Your Are Ready To Buy A Home

At some point in life, most of us want to become homeowners. But how do you know you are ready to buy a home? Here are five signs to let you know.

Ready to buy a home

  1. YOU’RE TIRED OF PAYING RENT

If you think you’re just throwing money away each month paying rent, it may be time for a change. You might realize this money could be going towards the biggest financial investment of your life, instead of paying for someone else’s mortgage. If you’re thinking this, it is probably time to become a homeowner.

  1. YOU DON’T LIKE LIVING WITH SOMEONE ELSE’S RULES

You can’t decorate or renovate the way you want to. You can’t have a dog or an iguana. You can’t have guests for more than a week at a time. Whatever rule is getting under your skin goes away when you buy your own home (unless it’s a condo and then you have to abide by the strata rules and bylaws).

  1. REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE AREN’T DONE QUICKLY OR PROPERLY

If the Landlord wants to save money on repairs, they are not going to send the most qualified professional to do the job. Due to this, the maintenance might not be done as quickly as you’d like. When you own your own home, the decision is yours. You can do the repairs on your schedule, not when the Landlord feels like calling someone. And you can hire the person you feel is most qualified and within your own budget.

  1. YOU WANT SECURITY

When you rent there’s always a risk that (through no fault of your own) you’re going to have to move, sometimes unexpectedly and at the most inconvenient time. A Landlord can terminate your tenancy for a variety of reasons, so it can be difficult for some people to put down roots in a rental property because of this uncertainty. Buying your home allows you the security of knowing you never have to move again, unless you choose to.

  1. YOU DISLIKE RANDOM INSPECTIONS

A Landlord can come into your home once a month in British Columbia as long as he gives you proper notice of entry. Most don’t do it that often, but if you’re tired of random property inspections by the Landlord or their agent, the best way to avoid them is to buy your own home. No one will be knocking on the door to walk through your house and no one will be entering your home without your permission.
